No you dont NEED them.  BUT... it def doesnt hurt.  I run a soft glow bead above my hook and glo hooks on all of my tipup rigs except for the big bait rigs which are just the glow bead and a bigger hook.  as mentioned above, if you cant add some flair for them to see, make some noise!

Been catching eyes for over 50 years and haven't tried glow lures yet even though I have a couple.  Usually I'm too busy unhooking fish to change lures....

good points so far.  I've tried them and not found they work like magic by any means.  However, subtle blue added to a live bait set-up or tip up seems to have a slight edge.  I still like good action/vibration baits like Chubby Darters the best for calling and bringing fish in.

Absolutely. Its a rare day when i dont have a glow lure of some sort on at daylight or dark. Most important is the intensity of the glow. Somedays they want a subtle glow, others they want a light bulb.....I always start out by holding my thumb over the lure and only charge a small portion of it. If that works, i dont do anymore until they give me a reason to.
Get your MOJO rising.

Glow is awesome... Many time I have experimented where I will have my jig down for 5 minutes with no action... Pull it up, put the light on it to make it glow and drop it back down. The Vex will read a fish within 5 seconds sometimes.
