Marcum let down
« on: Jan 28, 2022, 01:58 PM »
Right in the middle of one of the best hardwater seasons I have ever had, my Marcum display went out. Winter is my lay off time, Im a brick and stone mason, so money is tight this time of year for me. Quick end to a great season. I hope you all have the very best of luck and stay safe out there. I will see you next season.

How is that the end of a season?  ???

I've never ice fished electronics. Fish smaller water where they pattern more predictably, and it shouldn't be much of a handicap to finish out the season.

The lake i fish is very hard to fish. With the handful of times i actually get to take the kids out, It will be hard to keep little ones entertained when the fish are scarce. I spent years fishing this lake with no electronics without much success.

I'm saying hit a smaller lake, shallow-ish if possible. Find a topo map and it shouldn't be that hard to get on some fish.

Which one is it?  Marcum is super cool about sending stuff back. If u don’t get a new display they have a lot of reconditioned stuff.    Mark

Kids are a great replacement for electronics. Just give them all a schooley pole, set them up, and when one gets a bite go sit next to them. You can cover a lot of area at once. (depending on how many kids you have..). Take  bunch of snacks so your little fishfinders don't run out of power!   ;)

Get a Garmin striker 4 and rig it up in your Marcum bag. Not quite as good as a marcum, but you can see your lure and fish come in.

Couple things.....

The one limit of bluegills i have ever got ice fishing was before electronics.

Michigan is called the great lakes state for a reason. Hundreds if not thousands of lakes to fish. More than just the one lake you are fishing. Try a different and maybe smaller lake. Just a suggestion.

Or you could stay home and work on the honey do list 7 days a week, till your back to work.

Did you check fuse, battery, cables and connections?
Most sonar issues are power related.

Which sonar do you use and what's its age?

I had X67 and it was a good unit - and one heck of an offer!
