I would like to get 3 or 4 tungsten jigs , I was thinking gold a couple u v with green in them and orange , is this a good start ? the ponds i fish are shallow and stained water . any help appreciated .

My #1 is Wonderbread....then gold...then orange/chartreuse. After that it's close my eyes and point. ;)

Gold, pink and chartreuse would be my top choices for about anywhere I fish, especially if it is stained water.
-
Black,red,white and gold.
-
For me the go to is fire tiger.

I think you can see from the replies it doesn't really matter to much what color you use, they all catch fish. Right size, right place, right depth, right bait your going to catch fish regardless of color. Most fish will "feel" (lateral line) your lure before they see it, concentrate on presentation not so much on color.

Gold

Perch are canabalistic. You want at least one colored like a perch.
-
Pink or pink and white are the go to colors in my neighborhood for pan fish...
-
Pink, Black and Gold are my go to tungstens. Been using either the white or yellow wonderbreads with some limited success. More often than not, I seem to fall back to pink and black.

Gold, pink/white, orange/white and black are staples for me.

Perch color. Fire Tiger.. ;)
-
glo chart bloodline.
-
Perch colored or fire tiger, then bubble gum and wonder bread.
-
Black, white (classic colors), pink, and orange. You can help contrast the overall presentation by using different colored bait. I like red and white spikes.

id recommend a firetiger one or perch patern also did good for me
