Help understanding
« on: Feb 02, 2019, 08:31 PM »
On my tip ups I have a size 8 hook with a small split shot sinker. I’ve been seeing that people are using spoons or other “hook” devices with wax worms, minnows, or spikes. In your opinion would it be better to switch to something other than a plain old hook to increase my chances at enticing fish? Thanks.

You could simply add some color beads and/or small blades to your tip up leader...

I used to put spoon blades,  or red/orange plastic beads above my hooks. Didn't really seem to make a difference. I did switch to red treble hooks on my tip-ups and seem to catch more fish with them.

I started using small jigs tipped with bait to eliminate the need for a split shot  and it works no if I'm using minnows or shinners treble hook all the way
