I was going to come out and say hi today but had the kids and they were having a rough day.  CdC and I went to little O and got a bunch of yellows...good way to end the season.

It's legal as long as you don't fish down though the ice or break the ice then fish. Open water means open water.

Those guys may be on thin ice in more ways than one.  I think it is illegal. The open water fishing laws say "......provided that the person angling does not take fish through the ice, from the ice, or from any object supported by the ice."  I think a warden would have a good case to pinch them.

I was just going by what the warden said last night on the news. He didn't say anything about fishing from the ice.

I have always been under the impression that you can not be standing on the ice or on snow...but then I could be wrong.

This is one of those legal interpretation situations where I would be sure to get the OK from the warden who has the area before I did it.

I was just going by what the warden said last night on the news. He didn't say anything about fishing from the ice.

I don't if it's legal or illegal, I wouldn't want to be standing on the ice next to open water this time of year anyways. :cookoo:

Then they'd be better off if they fell through, standing the water IS legal.  ;D ::)

They would have to prove it was you breaking the ice and since you didn't do it, how could they?  I'd take that fight Big Jake ;)
