Winter fish habitat
« on: Feb 27, 2015, 12:38 PM »
Not specific to any fish really but I'm interested in LMB I know how they act in the summer but how are they in the winter? Are they deep? Do they hang around debris still? In a reservoir in depths from 4 to 12 where do you think? Trying to land a sized fish

Ive caught large mouths in literally 2 feet of water out to 15 fow on shiners.  Ive also caught them on a small swedish pimple jigging for crappie in 8 fow. It is tough thru the ice cause u cant always see structure unless u drill and scope. GL

Around vegetation is usually a great highway for lmb, set up just outside and you should have no problems.

Especially coming up soon on the ice, I'd target the shallows by weeds because the bass will start realizing it's becoming spring when it warms a little...if that ever does happen hahahah

Bantam, to me, is a pretty tough lake to fish. But then again I haven't tried outside the southern bay. I'm going to try a couple times in the spring to get an idea of the lake when there's no ice covering it.
