A day to remember!
« on: Jan 19, 2015, 05:35 PM »
Excellent excellent excellent day today ice fishing. Started out at tyler (7:00am-1:00pm)caught 20 yellow perch all in the range of 6inch to 10inches. 1 crappie 11 inches. 1 rainbow trout 16 inches. And 2 pickerel the first one 15 inches the second 21 inches. If I can figure out how to do the pictures from my phone I will show some picture of today and last week at Winchester. After a quick stop for lunch me and my buddy headed to the housatonic river and fished a cove his uncle lives on. Absolutely hammered fish!!! We got there around 3:00 and fished until the sun went down and it was none stop action. Caught 38 yellow perch, beside maybe 10 that were literally small than minnow in a bait store, the other 28 were all over 10-11inches a few that were pushing 14 and the big one I caught in one of my last holes a 16 and 3/4 GIANT!!! Now that picture I will make sure to get on this site. 2 largemouths both around 14 inch but the catch of the day 100% goes to my buddy who caught a 24 inch pike on 2lb test tipped with mousies on a small toungston jig, beautiful site to see. Again I will do whatever I can to get pictures up its confusing from a phone and also I told my buddy to join the site so he will be able to confirm this wonderful and unforgettable day we had ice fishing!!!!

A 24'' pike on the jig stick is a good one, but a 16.74'' perch is a crazy good perch. I wanna see that one! Way to go!

When I hooked the perch I thought I had a trout on, it was taking long runs a lot of head shakes and then when it pasted the hole my jaw just dropped. When I held it up I told my buddy wow this is another 13-14 inches perch and he said noooo it's gotta be bigger so we took the tape measure out and sure enough 16 and 3/4 inches!!! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture with the tape measure but I do have a perch of me holding it. And the pike, even though I didn't catch it, was so much fun to watch. We had no idea what my buddy hooked into but one of the reason I love to ice fish is you never know what you have until that fish passes the hole and once he did we went nuts!! Great times

Fished there sunday morning before the rain set in with similar results. Be careful going out  too far by the river. lots of current makes the ice very iffy.
