i take a large sharpening stone with some oil and take my time on them. i can get them to cut as good as new blades. they last alot longer too. youre not taking as much metal off them each time theyre sharpened.

what is the correct angle to sharpen them to, or does it vary with diff auger setups?

I think the angle is the hardest part, do it wrong and your blades are usless. I get mine done by a local sharpener. How often do you guys sharpen your baldes? every season? or just when you start to notice a difference?

There's a guy here in Norway that does a tremendous job at blade sharpening. I dont know if he does auger blades, but i can ask him the next time we get our drill bits done. He actually sharpens them better than brand new.  I'll get his phone number and give it to you when i go up again ok

i keep my blades flat on the stone face resting on the cut angle that was originally there from the factory then i go in small circles with light pressure, checking them often . once i start to get a burr on the other side i flip the blade over and rub it enough flat on the stone just enough to remove the burr. repeat untill its sharp enough. its easier than it sounds. just takes a little patience.
