Why we are still waiting for the ice...
« on: Dec 21, 2008, 01:18 PM »
  :o
I just saw on the national news this a.m. that 75% of Americans think that a top priority for president-elect Obama is climate change. The good news in that statistic is that Americans have gotten past the debate on whether or not global warming is for real and now want to know what can be done about it.
As luck would have it I just descovered a guy named David Suzuki from Canada who has a lot of insight into this problem, so I wanted to share a couple of links with my fellow ice friends. He's a smart dude.
By the way this guy grew up fishing in Canada and is aware of how things have changed.
So it's no coincidence that we are still waiting for safe ice to form in CT. And winter periods of warm rain are becoming more the norm than the exception. Remember last February, we set a record with 11 inches of rain. What could be worse for ice fishing than warm rain??
Check it out.
