Thanks fellas. The motor was flooding itself out. Had to rebuild the carb, diaphragms were stiff. Also, the adjustment was way off. Not sure how that happened. But it's good to go now.

I'm glad you got it working.  When I store mine for the off season I leave some gas in it with Stabill added so the diaphragms and seals don't dry out.

Just had to bring this thread to the top again. I have to say this Eskimo Z51 I bought 5 years ago is running as good as it did the first day out. Except I have an 8" bit I bought afterwards. Touched up the blades again before today and it rips through the ice.

Eskimo just set the standard again, they're now backing all their power augers with a five year warranty.

I haven't seen that and was just on Jiffy's website, they're still advertising on their website 2 year warranty on the motor, 2 year warranty on the transmission, and 2 years on the ripper blade.  That's what they list on each power auger in the product description on every auger.  If they're going to have a five year warranty they should have it listed in their product descriptions.  There's nothing even listed in their what's new section.

Bottom of the page.....Here is details

Jiffy® 5 Year Limited Warranty: Jiffy® Power Ice Drills have a “bumper to bumper” 2 Year Limited Warranty. Starting in the 3rd year of ownership, the engine, transmission, and drill assembly have an additional 3 Year Limited Warranty. Not included in the additional 3 year limited warranty are the parts subject to wear which specifically include the auger blades, recoil starter, and throttle/cable assembly.

Quick Question has anyone done a carb cleaning walk through? My Z71 isn't running so I think I'm having carb issues. I've already replaced the the fuel, cleaned the air filter, inspected the fuel line and filter, replaced the spark plug and tested the spark. There still feels like a good amount of compression in the cylinder so I think my rings are still good.

That's only three years short of a FULL warranty, oh well better luck next time Jiffy.   ;D

need some help guys,

just bought a carb cleaning kit for my Z71 auger. And for the life of me I cant find where the little screen is suppose to go. I'm assuming my carb is either missing one or I'm blind.

No. Make sure you are using NON-OXY gas. The other crap has the corn squeezin's alcohol in it that actually leeches out the plasticizers that keep plastic pliable. Spray the grommet with pure silicone; helps keep it pliable.

A Z71 with an 8?, those things are ridiculous!!! haha. I fish up in northern saskatchewan and my 'ol z51 chews like crazy I can't imagine that those brutes will do!

I keep telling people that fuel is a huge issue with all augers. SO much better to just spend the extra couple bucks and get alcylyte fuel and never worry about dried up seals or gummy carbs again.
well if you were me then i'd be you and i really wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about...

You need to explain to us yanks what "alcylyte" is...we've never heard of it.... ???   The ethanol corn alcohol garbage dries out seals, gaskets, rubber parts, etc, because of the high concentration of alcohol. It also leaches out the plasticisers that are added to plastic to keep it pliable. You can tell them over and over until yer blue ion the face, but they just say "I use stabilizer"...that has nothing to do with it! Even some of the new ones that claim molecular action against the alcohol degradation process with oxygenated fuel doesn't cut it with me. Use NON-OXY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got REALLY LUCKY this year, the gas station down the road from me is now selling non-ethanol gas, I'll be running that from now on and it'll be cheaper than the canned gas.

I finally found the problem with my auger. Turns out my ignition coil wasn't putting out enough power to get the spark plug to ignite. I was using an inline spark plug tester where I should have used a spark gap tester  :-\. So after doing a carb cleaning and a full on cleaning of the auger she's back to a one pull champ. Not bad for a 9 year old auger that drills 30-40 each time I'm out on the ice. When I'm on a new spot I leave the area looking like swiss cheese  ;D
