Hello fellow 'MO owners!!
Need a little help.  Spent $75 on an old 8900 (8inch) from a guy who now spends his winters in FL. Found the manual online which said part # for blades is QB8.  Are these the same as the 8in Quantum Power auger blades?

Called FishUSA (have more stuff to order from them) and they gave me the # for Artisam since they weren't sure and didn't want to send me the wrong blades. They were closed for the day when I called.

Tried the search function here first but never really found an answer and didn't want to go thru 100+ pages! ;D

Don't know if you have a Sportsmans warehouse in your area but that is where I have seen them the cheapest.

And, Yoopergirl, welcome to the Fraternal Order of Eskimo Auger Owners.

There's not even a quarter of an isle (one side) now.  MC Sports has multiple isles though! :)  I am now an official member...unless there's an initiation?!?!

No initiation.   Oh wait, if you bake, we like cookies.  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

No lubricant requirements for your auger, either, so I won't go there.    ;)2

Yes but you can touch them up a few times out and they are fine. I just gave mine a good going over 2 days ago and yesterday that thing was going through 8-10 inches of ice in 5 seconds flat.

Just curious if any of you have pictures of how you keep the old school Eskimo tanks from leaking. The tank that just has a hole in the bottom. I have the gas line going in with a small filter on the end but always seem to leak a bit. I finally found some Seal All, seems to do the trick so far but wondering if anyone has found a better solution, maybe a petcock valve or something...?

Finding a petcock with a long thread with a wide shoulder is no easy task with china supplying what is on the shelves.    Washers, steel and neoprene can be added to increase the contact area with the tank is important.  Then adding a nut on each side, helps it stay immobilized during the off/on movement.
Good luck.    ;)2

I'm have some problems with my Stingray. It starts up, idles and throttles up, but once I get to punching a hole it seems to get about 4"  into it and won't turn the blade any more. I don't know if the engine is bogging down or if the blade is living up. If I lift it from the hole it revs, but not like it used to, and the blade firms, again not like it used to.
Thought I had it worked out but got stranded on the ice this morning with no way to cut a hole.
 Ideas?

Tell us in detail what "you worked out".

Was it fine last trip ?

Did something occur with the blade ?

Had a problem last month with it not wanting to idle. Changed out the fuel and it seemed to work.  Then last week I had the same issue as I'm having now. I didn't do anything special, I thought maybe I needed to warm it up some, so I let it run for an extended time. It cut a couple of holes just fine after that.
Today I let  it warm up and started drilling, then about 4" in or so, it stopped turning and cutting. It didn't feel like it was stuck. I pulled it up out of the hole and revved it up. The blade seemed to turn, but not smoothly.
The engine sounded like it was bogging down or flooding out.

Sounds like a tiny bit of debris in the main jet ~  remove the bowl and don't destroy the gasket.

If you aren't familiar with this procedure, best find someone that is.       ;)2

Take the fuel line off of the carb and check to see if that's plugged.  A few years ago I changed out my fuel line because it was an old not ethanol safe line and when I did I found a gob of "slime" blocking the inlet to the carb.  While you're doing that I'd change the line to an ethanol rated line because the ethanol will eat and harden non-ethanol rated lines.

I just replaced the fuel tank and lines last year. Also, I never run ethanol.

Might also have a crack in the fuel line allowing to much air intake.

Is this the first time you're using the auger this season?  You're lucky to have ethanol free gas, in Pennsylvania our gas has 10% ethanol mixed in it.  I'd still check the inlet to the carb to see if something got in there and is restricting the flow.  Also check the gas line, maybe there's a pin hole you didn't notice when you changed out the tank.
