Maybe sooner for some of us! several lakes n the hills are getting a cap on em and on another site a guys was fishing on 5" Saturday in the higher lakes, 10,500ft. I'm ready! Got Mo cold weather coming in tomorrow and sat.

A little info on Eskimo's customer service for those thinking about buying a MO. Got my new Z71 last week, started great, runs great, except the lock for the throttle didn't work right, and seemed like the throttle would stick every now and then. Called Eskimo today and told them about it, they are sending me a complete handle assembly! No questions asked. I swear they have got to be the best company out there!

Its because of things like that, us MOrons in some peoples eyes

You guys talked me into it I just ordered a Eskimo shark 51 8 inch from Glens this morning. Cant wait for it to get here its my first power auger, I'm gonna use Reb's break in method.

I appreciate and hope that you find my break-in method satisfactory!!! Forty plus years of engine work brought me to that method....I think you'll find that our other engine guru, Mr. (and I use the "Mr." VERY lightly) Surflizard agrees. Many other motorheads on here, too.....you'll never be at a loss for help!!! Great folks here!! Great choice, too, and I hope you enjoy the camraderie and mayhem er, foolishness, er INFORMATION available to you!!! Don't forget to click on and add the Eskimo avatar to your profile, since you are now an official 'MO owner!!!
PS... in your profile, it's helpful to have your location posted, so we know where you're at!!! We just use a GPS strapped to Surf's head, as it is VERY beneficial to know where that goofba...oops, I mean good man is at....

Glad to have ya aboard kevt528, Rebs Breakin method works and it works well ! Our Exalted Grand Poohba is kinda of a stickler for appropriate behavior and such, but we tend to play it fast and loose here on F.O.E.A.O. ! Feel free to ask questions and join in all the Revelry here when ever you please ! Reb asks where I am all the time and I do what I can to to add to his confusion ! I'm partial to Timbuktu myself !

Same power head that is used on a Nils. I just customized it. Going to make a nice rig for somebody

Back in last years posts, Reb put together a new motor break in post, it explained the proper steps to first start the auger and the proper cool down times for the motor also, well worth finding and using, it will add a lot of years to your motor longevity !

Here it is:

Depends on how picky you are about your engine. Start it, just let it idle for the first 10 minutes or so, then shut 'er down and let it cool off. Re-start, and slowly bring revs up, then down, slowly advancing up to Midrange. Shut off; let cool down. Repeat, slowly advancing engine to WOT. Remember to let it idle as long as it was at higher rpms; if you ran it at high revs for 15 seconds, let it drop to idle for at least that long. Proper break-in sets the stage for the future of your engine....no reason to pound the heck out of it right away. Run it at the PROPER oil specified ratio with a good 2 stroke oil for Air-cooled engines.
