we have 6 of them in my smelt shack. easily detect a bite from a 5in. smelt w/ the light rod tip plus you have the backbone to land a larger fish. my father landed a 24in. laker he hooked on to in my shack while smelting! man can those rods bend! took 10min. to get him wore out enough to land em' but we got him! maybe i should contact h.t. and let them know this . be good advertisement for thier rods! paid $6.95 ea. thru. fishusa.

I figured I'd post a pic of my custom ice blues rods I made.

I just cut of the old handle and epoxied the blank into the new oak handles I made.

(Image removed from quote.)

Those look sweet!  I always thought that the blank was supposed to run all the way through the handle for more durability

Thanks.

From the factory the blanks are actually epoxied into a cardboardlike tube and that is epoxied into the korkalon about 3/4s of the way. On the little rod the blank is in almost the full length of the handle. On the larger rod the blank is in the handle about 4". Everything is very sturdy.

i have the 18" one, just because i have a tiny 2-person shanty and i take up most of it, plus, first fish i caught on it was an 18" rainbow, didn't even need a tape measure, just laid him down next to the rod.
