Ken's Spoon / Guster / SlabGrabbers etc.
« on: Dec 24, 2011, 08:55 PM »
Anyone use these? I hear they work good for perch. But I haven't seen them in any stores around here. I can find some of them here:

Ken's spoons: https://www./store/index.php?cPath=23_68_26&osCsid=3cb6e407ba36b9f9910d22c0405ceadb

Slabgrabbers: http://www.mcgathyshooks.com/

Also called Guster Spoons and Jack spoons. But can't find info on those.

I loaded up on some for this season, I read the article in IF mag and though they looked interesting. they are not available in my area either, wich also may make them a winner for the fish.

I bought a mix of Kens Hooks and slab grabbers both

yep use em alot. No bait down the hole, pull the perch up, down the hole, pull the perch up repeat. if you feel the need to bait them use a piece of chicken skin, lasts awhile and gets u up and down fast.

They are often the go to bait on lake st claire for perch in Michigan. I have found that red bead works the best and most consistent.

I have a swedish pimple but never had any luck with it. Still want to get some kens spoons. Why do you prefer the pimples over the spoons?

Ken's Spoon not available at sportsman direct anymore. Where can you get them?

this prob doesnt help you but we get 99% of ours at local baitshops and gas stations. I think Ken's is or was based in Michigan so they are pretty big here and not hard to find.

I have a slab grabber. It has caught perch but the problem is they will not hold a minnow. If feeding strong, they work when no bait is required. Will have to try chicken skin for bait.

I have never once used any bait on mine, thats the key. The bait actually messes up the action. the bead is enough of an attacter.

Thanks for advice. Will try no bait. Got them last year and only got to use them a few times due to the lack of ice :(  I did find the slab grabber seemed to keep more of the small Perch off which was nice.

they are made in michigan and can be found at rummage sales. This is what $2.00 can get you at the right sale.
