Title: New to ice fishing
Post by: huntneiowa on Jan 20, 2015, 02:14 PM
New to jigging through the ice. Is it better to keep jigging or hold still when fish appear on flasher?  using horizontal jig and vertical jig both tipped with wax worm? Fishing for crappie and bluegill.

Depends on the mood of the fish, try different thing and watch the flasher. If you jig it and stop and the fish doesn't bite, try something different like jigging upwards with it slowly(crappie like that). Some times they want it jigged non stop right in front of their face.

Thanks I'm new to ice fishing this year. Didn't think it would be so addictive!

Jigging all depends on how the fish are biting that day.  Sometimes they want to see it move and strike when it is still.  Other times they might spook if you hold it still.
