Just to update since I hate to leave my threads hanging
Raising the seat with the boat seat pedestal really didnt work too well. Problem was even though I cut it down as far as I could, the seat ended up being too high. I could not reach stuff on the ice like my vexilar while sitting in it. And my head hit the canvas top
I also didnt like the extra weight and the whole thing felt out of balance.
Just didnt like it.
So on my way home from the cabin (I brought the fish trap back with me, which by the way, is a Pro not a Scout) I stopped at Harbor Freight and bought the folding camping directors style chair.
Got home and removed the old seat and supports. Put the chair in the tub. Super nice! Not too tall. Very sturdy and comfy!
So thats what I will use. It does take more room in the tub setup but I can work my storage around that. And its lighter. Also has a bunch of storage pockets on one side, which will come in very handy, and a folding table on the other (which I probably wont use)
And a bonus is I can use it around the campfire in the soft water season.
