After loosing the biggest Burbot that Pitbell ever caught, , , he managed to pull this little guy out the very next day. GOOD JOB Pitbell.

Pitbell seems to be the only guy catching fish this year.

I lost some good pics from my memory card, but I managed to save this one.

I just wanted a pic of Me with Pitbells fish

Well us BC boys will get it right yet. Here is buddy rolf who used his MFF card instead of iceshanty card yesterday

Picked up the wrong card

He said not to worry as they are only going to get bigger

He says its a 31.5 inch but hard to tell.

The boys and girls went out on the 2nd (day I went for a hike) for a little rainbow action. Fishing pressure has definitely not hurt this lake.

My guess would be the 2 bigger ones about 16 and 17 yrs old. Smaller one maybe 11 yrs old. Hard to tell without samples taken for testing though. They do grow fast in this lake as lots of big kokanee baitfish.

My examination of the tape shows approximately 34 inches for the largest fish. This would translate into an age of 30 + or - 5 depending on the specific lake characteristics. The fish could be as old as 40 as lake trout tend to reach their asymptotic length by the time they get that big.

It takes a really long time to replace old mature individuals such as the ones harvested in the photo.

I always went by 1lb per year of age. But that was told to me by an oldtimer, so who knows how old they are.
I was talking with a biologist that said there will be heavy restrictions put on laker fishing in the next few years. Apparently even releasing them the survival rate is very very low. Thats without even taking them out of water, just from the stress of the fight, even in summer.
Yes we harvested them and we did stay within our limits set out by the gov't boys. Unfortunately that will change in the near future.

I was always told that lakers never get to be more than 40 years old. I would suspect that those would be around 20-30 years?
