Rules Clarification
« on: Jan 12, 2011, 09:41 PM »
There's a few rules that I see are still not being followed so I'm posting these from the rule book. I'm not trying to single anyone out but trying to make people aware so they're not DQed. They're some nice looking fish on the board and I'm there's more to come so good luck to all.  ;)

** Only 1 randomly drawn prize per entrant **
** You are entered 1 time no matter how many entries you enter **
** Your name stays entered until it is drawn or the drawings are over **
Drawing are announced on Thursday at 10:00 PM EST

No part of the fish should be on the rule.

All entries must be fresh caught fish .. not frozen or gutted.
Take the pic immediately while the fish looks good. If it sits all day
and looks bad it will be DQ'd.

b.)Only post entries that can challenge the leaders board. Any " short " entries can be posted in the "short" entries area to qualify for the weekly drawing.
(This rule it doesn't say but I'm sure the short entries have to be of the listed species)
                                   Photo  Tips :

Use a rule with the largest numbers you can find.
Take the photo directly above fish  ... not at an angle.
Take several photos to ensure at least one meets the criteria.
Fill the pic with the entry, rule and card and avoid side clutter.

Short fish of any species can be posted in the short area, as long as one bigger has been posted in the anything category.

For instance, if a 32" carp has been posted in the anything and you catch a 20" carp... It goes in the short area.

Totally agree with you but there's no anything category.

Was just about to say that...there is no anything category.

Also, I was always under the assumption we had to have our tourney card in the picture with yourself and the fish. I guess that is not a rule??? Just need the tourney card in the pic with the fish and rule correct???

Yes this is true. My wife and I both had DQ's because of that reason. Oh well I got a bigger one after that.

Was wodering when someone was going to repost these rules for everyone again.  Seeing alot of frozen looking fish,  covering of tape, and multiple posts that should just be entered in the short area.  Thanks Bill

Just to clarify another rule "as the fish lays". Which I'm adding to the rules and starts as of now.

If the entry is flopping around and if you have to you can place one hand to hold it down. You cannot place two hands on the entry ... in essence stretching out the entry.

Another clarification is "no part of the fish on the rule".

I try to give lead way if a fin, tail or the hump of the back is on the rule. Sometimes it's just the angle of the shot as well.
If the entry is laying on the rule it will be DQ'd.
Try and keep the entry close to the rule but off the rule and try to get the shot straight down .. not at an angle.

If people are deliberately trying to cheat, like holding the mouth shut, can we just have them DQ'ed from the tourney... come on this is a free tourney is it really that big of a deal???

If it was not in the rules that you couldn't do it, cant see how you can DQ them from the whole tourney.

This online tournament is ever evolving. I amend (or change) the rules as needed.

When I see two hands holding down an entry I'm not accusing anyone of cheating but it could be construed that way. Therefore I added one hand to hold the entry. I understand that the fish may squirm and you may want a "fast" picture because you may want to release the fish.

When I see a finger or hand holding the mouth shut, again, it may be construed as cheating. Again I added that to the rules.

I could only foresee so many things when I started this tourney and wrote the rules. Over the years the rules have evolved and I believe this to be a good thing. I try and understand situations and give some lead way but there has to be a point.

i fish by my self some times i can't get far enough away with the camera to do the self shot with the ice in the background fish in front of me and my face and the right angle . i have nice crappie i wanted to post but can't because of the two shot rule , I took 10 + pics and could not get all the aspects correct for the self and fish pic so i gave up and most likely won't enter any entries untill i get a better cam or just won't try unless i'm out with a friend . i would need a 6 foot arm to get all aspects  right with my old digital cam and cannot afford better. >:( >:( >:(

Learn to use the self timer function. You can set it on a bucket and use gloves or a hat to set the angle. Compose your shot, kneel, and wait for the flash. It is a P I A, but works in a bind. I try to have a witness take any pics. being entered in a tourney anyhow, but know it can be hard to find trustworthy people on your schedule..

Hope someone enters a few crappie, cause I am just getting warmed up. Had one over 18" that didn't meet the criteria :(.
