6:15 Meet at Chetek Cafe-Eat Breakfast, Get to know everyone a bit, Figure out which lake on the Chain we will fish
7:15 Get Bait-Not sure were you want to go I don't know if either shop is better
7:30 Meet at the boat landing- Get our gear together and go out hit the 1st spot
11-12 Eat lunch

I would be down for dinner afterwards if anyone else wants to go I would be willing to go. Gilligans?

Sounds like a plan, I will put in my vacation request for the 15th.

Looks like we're all in agreement on Saturday. There is a decent night bite on a few areas. If the ice is thick enough ill show you a spot where you can limit out on crappies in 2 hours

Heck yeah, i work nights usually till midnight, might have to take a half night off the 14th haha. Boss isn't going to like me. I have December 22nd-January 1rst off. Hello lake of the woods December 26th-30th

Yeah I work 4:15-12:45 so I figured I might as well take a vacation day on the 14th.

Chetek has 2 bait shops, the Rod and Gun right in town, and the one that Gilligans operates, which is Skippers. There is an eye fishery in the lakes, its not that great though. Pike/Perch/Crappie/Bluegill are the way to go!

Did the gas station at the north end of Chetek stop selling live bait? Think it was the spur station (but don't quote me). If so, that's too bad as they were open all times of the day and night - as well as Christmas and New Years Day.

If your going to Chetec area lakes I can probably make it down. It's only about a 45 min drive south for me. I live about 10 miles off of hyw 53 just north of Spooner.

The more the better! Thats the BP station, but they don't sell bait. Keg and Kork on the south end just off of Highway 53 sells bait/tackle too. Forgot about that one

Now all we need is ice. There is still some skim ice along the south shore of a pond I drive by but warm temps coming till Saturday, then a cool off again. Hard to believe deer season is only 9 days away, and 14 days till Thanksgiving.

Thats what I was thinking yesterday. Can't wait for deer season hopefully it will be a smooth transition right to ice fishing. Trust me I will be out checking the ice every morning after deer hunting.

Anyone want to ride together from the Eau Claire, Chippewa area? I have a quad cab with a topper and a 4X8 ft trailer to haul shacks etc. Always helps to share the cost of gas. Will we be needing a quad/snowmobile or will we be within walking distance of where we are going to fish? I guess ice conditions may also dictate walking or machine travel also.

I have a 1 man flip over and a 2 man flip over if the weather is bad and anyone needs a shack to use or share. I also have a nice Strikemaster Solo auger and plenty of tip downs and anyone wants to borrow a couple. I see no need for everyone to bring an auger.

Sounds like a great time on the hard water!!!

Going back through the thread, I came up with possibly 13 - 14 interested so far. We may very well pick up a few more after gun deer season. Quite a few members probably have not been back on yet. No matter what, it sounds like a good crew, and a great time. Now all we need is ice.

Yeah I hopefully it starts to cool down. Monday its only supposed to be 30 for a high then low 40's high 30's for next week.
