Multitasking . . . or Greylock Glen Galore
« on: Jan 07, 2024, 01:51 PM »
I was just up . Greylock Glen in Adams from around 11 AM to about 2:30 PM.

The temps were in the upper 20's, and it was snowing steadily.

First, I icefished the Upper (i.e., not Gazebo) Pond for about an hour and a half.

Ice conditions were marginal (about 2"), and, even though the Pond isn't very deep, and I had bibs on, I didn't feel entirely comfortable out there.

So, after catching two football-sized (12" to 13") bass on tip ups, I decided against pressing my luck and brought my gear back to my car.

Next I did a brisk (half hour or 45 minute) circuit around the Glen on cross-country skiis.

Then, I fished the small stream across the road, and landed eight (3" to 8") brookies, before finally heading home.

Good for you getting out in this weather and a decent days catch.

Wow, impressive.  Ice fishing to stream fishing in the same day.  Can't say I've ever done that!  And you caught fish doing both.  That's great.

Good call not spending too much time on 2 inches of ice. I was tempted to fish similar ice this weekend but I didn't like all the cracking and pooling water when I made my test holes. You seem to have a knack for finding the native brookies, they tend to disappear for me after spawn and I don't find them again until spring time.
