i like to use tip-ups, but nothing beats my setup. i get a medium-heavy action 24"+ jiging rod, put a cheap fly reel on it, throw some 6lb clear Stren, and a size 6-10 hook with out a leader!! it works great. some think i am crazy but a 2inch shinner on there is the ticket. i make stands for it so it doesn't go throung the hole!!! Try IT

anyone try it yet??? it really works good, but you can't be too far away. need to get to it soon. love it. and you should try it.

hey ive tried that just last weekend but insted of just a rod we  have a slammer tip up out... they work quite welll and are easy to use
