Thought I'd try some new waters for Lakers this weekend. Didn't manage much in Clearwater, but moved to Ptarmigan Bay, and whaled on em'. Forgot the camera, sorry no photos, Caught a few 10 pounders and had one on that could have been larger. What a fight. Fairly easy access as long as you have a snowmobile or quad.
Attached is a map of the area. Easy to get to. Good access from # 17 Hwy.
I know there are certain rules that apply to Clerarwater, but I understand that the rules change somewhat for Ptarmigan in regards to closed trout fishing seasons and bait restrictions. I think Ptarmigan stays open after Clearwater shuts down, but I need to call into DNR to be sure. Does anyone have a comment on that?

Be sure to be safe if you explore this region. I don't know the area that well. I heard that it can be risky around Treaty Island.
