Any ice condition reports on Leech Lake?
« on: Nov 28, 2017, 05:47 PM »
Hello all,
A friend and I had been planning a trip up to Leech this weekend, but with the recent warm spell we've had down here in Iowa, we are a bit concerned with ice conditions up north. Can anyone give us some info as to if there is good safe fishable ice? We had ideas of fishing around horseshoe bay, I'm sure the main lake is not covered yet.
Thanks

The conditions arnt great. I think there were boats on the water fishing for muskie a week or so ago. Any ice is gone due to warm up. Everyone is saying to stay off the ice..unless you know of some small shallower lakes around the area, those still my be suspect, I wouldnt be going on the ice. I'm sure they are possible to find..but it doesnt look good. Wind, warm temps, and rain in forecast.  Best of luck, stay safe.
