Title: First Ice and first fishing
Post by: PheasantTale on Dec 03, 2005, 09:11 AM
My prediction is that the cove will be fishable by December 28, followed by safe ice on January 4th.  Anyone else have a prediction.  By the way, why are you checking on ice fishing before deer season is even over???

Just got my deer this morning.  ;D  Now it is time to punch it into high gear for ice fishing.  I predict that with the cold temps coming and if we can get the wind to die down there will be fishable ice by mid week, next week on some lakes.  Around the 13 or 14th.  ALot of lakes around me froze over during Thanksgiving, so it won't take much to get a layer of ice.

I took a weeks vacation in November and I hit N.Y. fly fishing and nailed a 17 pound male Brown Trout, then killed my buck with my bow, a few weeks after that I killed a bear, then shot a doe on the first day.  I'm plum out of things to do, lets go ice.  If thing stay the same with no warm up we will be on by the 18-20.

Snapper-any chance of checking ice thickness on Muddy/Shannons by the end of the week, via the big rock test?
