Long Lake Walleye -Washburn County
« on: Dec 12, 2019, 03:04 PM »
Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone has fished for walleye on Long Lake in Washburn county before. My buddy (Mocs) and I are headed up next week some time and have never fished walleye through the ice before let alone on this lake! Not looking for anyone’s honey hole or something of that sort, but any tips would help!

Thanks,

Doc_Dev

I fish it often for walleye, my biggest walleye to date is out of Long. I fished it last weekend and it was pretty slow but were targeting more panfish but did have a couple tip ups out for walleye but no luck for me, my buddy caught a 19" right at  first light.  I will be out there again this weekend hopefully getting to some new spots. We usually do best in the 10-14' range on weed edges.

Just got off the lake, only one walleye between 2 guys.  Not too much snow where we were but when you drilled a hole it became a sloppy mess.  About 4" of ice anywhere we drilled.

I can't say much about walleye on long lake but, right now ice conditions on long lake are very spotty.  Some spots are 6 inches of fairly good ice.  Another spot may be 2 inches of good ice, and inch of water than crust of frozen snow.  In spots where the water is moving there are open spots.

We got out for two days last week, ice was fine for us two and walking (5.5” and slush) didn’t have any luck, walked out of pioneer and all around the lake and island. Had a 15” walleye and some little perch.
