Vented heater
« on: Nov 16, 2017, 08:19 AM »
I have a 12,000 btu nuway propane heater, 3” chimney with 1 damper. It is a great little heater till the wind sucks all the heat out the pipe. Has anyone found/ designed something to to slow the heat loss, was thinking more elbows, heat exchanger ?

I also have a 12K Nuway heater in a 5' x 12' shack insulated with 1.5" styrofoam. The 3'' pipe has a damper a couple of feet above the heater just before the elbow exiting through the wall. Near full damper seems to retain the heat best. What made a noticeable difference was putting fitted thin plywood stops between the solid skis, front and back, banked with snow, to stop the through draft up through the four 12'' floor holes.

Chimney damper and if you can put coffe pot on the heater& fill it with water and boil it this will help hold the heat and you can pour a little in you iceholes as they freeze just not to much or you’ll melt your fishing line.
