Lake Placid

Going to Lake Placid for few days end of Jan - was wondering if anyone fishes Lake Placid or Mirror - or even if you can.....any thoughts of where I could set up for a few hrs?? Appreciate any info....tks

I've got a buddy who lives in saranac, he fishes colby and does quite well with salmon, rainbows and browns. never done it myself but he gets some good ones. a search for lake colby on this site would probably pull up some places on the lake to look for. good luck

Yeah, Lake Placid and Mirror lake are both closed to ice fishing.  Oh boy would it ever be fun if they weren't :)

Theres a lot of small ponds up there if your looking to get into fish.Youll catch a lot of pike but itll keep you busy

Yep Lake Placid and Mirror are both shut to ice fishing. The closest we have is Connery Pond usaully by Jan you have to hike it in (about 1/2 mile). The fishing is mostly for Splake. There are lots of places within 1/2 hour with easy access and good fishing. If I can be of any help feel free to holler
