Just when you think the People's Republic of Connecticut couldn't get any more restrictive....
I am ok not harvesting fish in an effort to help with conservation efforts, but 2 tip ups? Not very happy about that.

Not sure why they did it, but hope the restriction doesn't spread to other lakes. It wouldn't surprise me if it does, however. I don't think it's just about harvest. There are plenty of do gooders that equate six tipups to six open water lines, although not a valid comparison. A guy casting from a boat can cover more water in six casts than those six tipups. Another common complaint is spreading tipups all over the place to keep other people away. Limiting the tipup count cuts down on that.

I'm sure those restrictions will spread. As soon as people realize they can't use their 6 shiny new tip ups they got for Christmas at certain lakes they will head to Highland or West Hill, etc. Once they become over fished.....new restrictions. I would be ok with confining my 6 tip ups to a certain radius. I do that anyway. Common sense ice fishing etiquette.

Both of those lakes are particularly special in their holdover brown trout fisheries.  While I cringe at new restrictions I do like a shot at a giant holdover.

Connecticant. Ridiculous. Bad enough we have to cough up extra money to launch, use alternate motors, many of which are very old two storkes that spit unburned fuel into the lake, and now this too.
News flash —- this restriction will keep people away from east twin and wonoscopomic.  Connect the tax to the regulation.
I am looking forward to the day i move out of this crapper.

Those two lakes restrictions in the past and access is controlled to limit outsiders from over crowding. All the other lakes didn’t allow ice fishing anyways. And they were permit controlled by water authorities. Just have to go with it or find other locations.

All of the salmon lakes in nh are 2 lines only lakes and nobody complains up there. The point is to maintain a healthy  population of fish. Everybody always wants more and bigger fish. Well there's plenty of other lakes around where you can catch stockers all day. Not many places you can go and catch that size class of fish. Its not a place you go to fill your freezer. You go to catch a trophy fish and enjoy it
The BIG one is just one flag away!

Species caught : largemouth, smallmouth,  bluegill, perch, White perch, crappie, trout, catfish, bowfin, pickerel, pike
