Got A Few Yellows!

Met a new friend, James,  today and caught a few! He had never really ice fished before. Kept a dozen 9 - 13 and left some smaller for a couple eagles hanging around. Saw otter tracks near some open water and a fox track crossing the pond. Good 7 - 9" ice, BUT OPEN water about 100yds away. Was gonna head to whitefish land, but the weather looked sketchy for a 3 hour drive.. Headed to a local pond for some culinary delectables! Found some!! Couldn't go where I usually fish. Lots of open patches.

Thanks Jim!!! I'm wicked grateful to have found this resource, and that is close to home!!! Hardly ever see a yellow grub in these... Nice chunky fillets too! Good stuff!!!

Gonna fillet them later this morning.  Someone asked about filleting them... I'll share a few pics of the process....
