Thanks for the report. Anything locked up should continue making ice for the next two days. Forecast for beginning of next week isn't great but as long as there's not too much rain things should continue moving in the right direction.

Checked a few places in Holden this morning. Peter Carr pond is locked up and had 2 inches. Eagle lake and Chaffins pond were 98% locked up, but still had 1.5 to 2 inches.

Finally retired this summer. Now time to ice fish anytime rather than just weekends. I was planning to check out Brigham in Hubbardston and a few other ponds/lakes in that area this weekend. Am I wasting my time since I am 2 hours away in Fall River. Not looking for secrets, so PM me if you have any clue on this area. Thanks in advance.

If I was looking for early ice in Central Mass, that’s where I’d look first.

today i went by Walker pond in Sturbridge only about 2.5 inches of ice near the dirt ramp. I checked out Browning in SPencer and found only about 2 inches near the road. Went up to Comet and saw a few guys fishing in the cove near the boat launch. I tested the ice for myself and only found 2.5 and 3".  Still a wee bit thin for my liking especially when the north part of the lake still has open water.  on the positive side, the bait shop near the ramp is open this year. i think he was closed last season. I just hope the rain stays on the cooler side so we don't lose what is already here.

Fished Brigham on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A few others were out each day as well except yesterday. About 4-6 inches everywhere. Good days and bad, though fish caught every day. Got my PB with a 5lb 20" LMB. Too many pickerel to count, but only 2 fish all day on Tuesday. Totaled over 15 slime darts, a couple of calico (crappie if you prefer). some perch and 2 decent LMB's. Will try again mid-next week after the holiday activities. Good luck to all, be safe and do check anywhere you go. Oh and Merry Christmas to all.

I live near A1 and Chauncy and the lakes I have checked are either ready or close to it. Between 1 1/2 to 4 inches. But with these temperatures....

We should have some great early ice almost anywhere this coming week.
