Looks about right to start, they'll let you know by their actions. At times they may want something bigger, at others maybe half that size, depends on their mood at the time. Be prepared for their mood to change in a heartbeat, gets bizarre sometimes on what they're into at that moment. I'd work on that hook a little, change or sharpen

Gonna tip it with spikes or minnow heads or tails or whatever works!

nope. but the hook looks old i would change that. i use the same one with a red hook on oneida and it works fine when they are bitting good.

The 1/16th and 1/8th are about perfect for crappies. I used the 1/16th the other day and caught a nice bunck of them. I also use them with a Hali dropper chain and think that works even better.

+1, change the hook, it is too far gone for a good sharpening.

I did well with a Rattling Varmint yesterday; similar size and shape. Usually I swap out the treble for a dropper chain and size 8 Gami or similar hook. Handy when uninvited guests show up....

That's a forage minnow in the pic, with a chain dropper; it did well on crappie yesterday as well.

X2. This is just about right for catching the decent sized crappie in my area. It weeds out alot of the 6-8" ers

Be surprised when there's a crappie that will bite a one ounce spoon.
