Went to Silver Lake in Wilmington today for the first day of ice fishing this winter and had a great day fishing. It started slow and then was pretty steady for the next few hours and then it died right down. After a few more minutes the last trap of the day went off and this thing was flying. It ran for 15 or 20 seconds once we got to the flag and then I set the hook. I immediately knew I set the hook into something huge. It ran so fast off from the start, it made a notch in the ice under water. I finally got it to the hole after a while and then i saw its maw flying up the hole.

Unfortunately, my camera died before I caught this fish so I had to take pictures of it back at my house. Also it had swallowed the treble hook too. I measured and weighed it when I got home and it weighed 4 lb 8 oz and was 26 3/4 inches long. I opened its belly and I found a 4-4 1/2 inch bluegill without its head and gills partially digested. You can see it below the fish in the picture. I will have a picture of it and me later on when I get it from my neighbor.
I also caught 5 largemouth bass, none over 1 1/2 pounds, 2 nice yellow perch, and another 2 pickerel, one which was 20 inches. This was a great day on the ice with temps at 49 degrees!
Beautiful Pickerel

Yeah I was lazy today and used old holes and I laughed when I saw the dog poo but I had to set up there. I had a feeling. Caught all but 2 fish out of that hole. Hahahaha
Here are the pictures of me and the fish for size comparison. I am 6'4".

Hahaha well I got that hat from Kittery Trading Post in Maine last year. The brand is Yukon tracks and it is all rabbit fur. It is very warm but very big. I look very goofy in pictures that I am wearing it in.

She is frozen right now but not getting mounted:( I wouldn't be able to afford it being in college and all. One of my teachers is coming down for a fish fry so I think that is when it will hit the pan.

YOU MIGHT BE FROM MICHIGAN IF...

2. if you've ever experienced frostbite and sunburn in the same week.
3. if your favorite holiday's are Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the first day of deer season

it was probably 15-20 ft. of water in thick weed beds
