(near) Ice fishing pictures
« on: Dec 17, 2009, 06:22 PM »
Hey all,

Just thought I'd share some pics I had of a trout fishing trip I went on during the last weekend of october. We didn't catch any monsters, but in four days of fishing, we caught well over a 100 Lakers in the 4-6 pound range, and 10 or so bigger, and a whole whack smaller. It was better than any resort fishing lodge I have ever been.  Also got a few pike the last day. We kept only what was in the pictures, besides a couple badly hooked ones we ate for shore lunch.  Only downside is the water ws starting to freeze over and we got a ton of snow.

Can't wait to get out on the ice, might have to make a early exit from work for some friday afternoon fishing.

cheers

thanks guys, well worth the cold, first time catching lakers and it was unreal.  The artic armour, I have mixed felings about. The bibs are spot on, warm and dry. And I love the float/safety aspect of it. The jacket I'm not as impressed with.  I've had days out there where I wish i had brought my carhartt instead. The quality of them are great, i use them for work some days and no complaints, even snagged a few nails and no rips. Its not a waste of money for the suit forsure.
At the end of the day, I'll go with an extra layer or two and have the piece of mind knowing that it might help out one day.

 Hey 134,
How do you like Sask fishing so far? Have you tried a lot of different lakes?
Seeing as you are so close, did you try Kinookimaw?

Sask fishing is unreal, I would speak highly of it, but the less people to know the better, hahaha.  I haven't got to try out as many lakes as i've would have liked, a couple up north and just LML, BP, really down here. Would love to make it up to this famous Blackstrap I hear hear so much about. Haven't been to Kinookimaw yet, but talked to a guy who said he got 3 eyes this morning, but the bite went cold just as the sun was coming up. Im choked though, gotta head home for a week for Christmas, so I'd imagine they are gone from that area by then.

cheers

I don't know if they leave the area so much as the fishing pressure increases, it can get pretty busy there.
