Cascade- open water fishing
« on: Feb 13, 2015, 03:27 PM »
Do many of you fish open water for perch in the early season at Cascade? Can you fish from the bank for perch or is a boat mandatory? I would assume the locations would be more in the shallow water where they spawn.
Fish hard, or go home.

I have done well from the bank about a month after the ice has come off, but that was in April, not in mid February. I fished some areas where the depth varied and there were drop offs just using night crawlers on the bottom. i am not sure how much open water there is right now, but I was thinking of checking it out tomorrow. I'll let you know if I go

Here's the video, hopefully the ice leaves before the boat flips.

any word on if they got the boat out yet ? I would think the ice could crush that thing. And I would hate to hear that, the last thing we would need is a fuel spill in there.

On the way back from Boise today we stopped at the Cascade cousins but no one  was home. I wanted to find out more info on this cluster@#$%. Why in the heck would you put a boat in right now? I would be more comfortable walking on that nasty ice than trying to navigate a boat through it. So is it finders keepers for the boat? ;)2   :roflmao:

I saw the boat yesterday. It's on the SW side of the lake now pretty close to shore.

I did see some folks fishing near Poison Cr. yesterday. One group was fishing about 20 yards from open water. The middle of the reservoir is all open but the north and south ends still have some ice. It's definitely boatable now.

Any word on what's happening on the open water.  Only reports I've heard so far are word of mouth and not too good.
