mutiple or solid ?
« on: Nov 10, 2017, 06:41 AM »
So...the jigs you use for panfish...do you have more success with solid colors or two/three tone ? Me...mostly multiple colors with orange/chartreuse as my go to with some occasional success on solid white. Just looking for quick responses as I'm thinking of investing in a few more solids. Thanks.

I use mostly solid. copper, gold, silver, except for slender spoons then gold or copper with different colors no real favorite on the colors.

The vast majority of my jigs are two tone and my most successful color combinations are orange/chartreuse, pink/white, and the perch colored.

gold with a glo bead behind the body but attached to it (fiska) is my go to for day time. works until the fish scatter at night.
checkout the different body designs like the ant.

glo blue for night time in multi color. more specifically the kodiak mikes tiger glo blue. helps call them in better and can be seen better in heavy plankton. also makes a good secondary daytime choice. would be a great all around choice.

My go to jig is the #12 Clam Drop jig in glow red paired with a chartreuse Maki Jamei. Crappies in my area love this combo. this one lake held fish but they were in a negative mood and would not take peoples minnows and other live bait but I was able to get them to bite using this combination. it was a highly pressured lake since it was one of the first to freeze in my area.

I like multi color.  I don't care what the fish thinks...as long as they bite.

I use mostly multi-colored jigs, but I pay most attention to the color of the bottom of the jig becase I am usually fishing above the fish.

Solid gold, black or red with glow red under low light/night are my basics. Not sure color is really all that important in general. Overall, size, shape and the presentation seems to be more of a factor except during the suicidal dawn/dusk attacks where most anything works
