ice on baldwin lake
« on: Jan 18, 2007, 04:21 PM »
I just checked the ice thickness tonight at the boat launch on Baldwin Lake. At about 15 ft. from shore ,it's about 2" thick. Someone else had been out farther, but NOT ME. When I called a friend that works at a local sport shop, he said someone had been in and had seen tip-ups out there this afternoon. They must of weighed less than me.

Used to catch some nice pike and gills on Baldwin.  Lived out by the air port 40 years ago.

I grew up in Greenville. Baldwin Lake is a surprisingly excellent fishery. Haven't fished there in years. I may go back if we ever get good ice!

I just checked Baldwin again today, there might be another 1/2" of ice, still not enough for me. I've taken some nice fish out of our lakes here in Greenville. It's a real privilege to live so close to so many good fishing lakes.

Based on what you've posted on Baldwin Lake, Como should be ready for foot travel and a good time with gills. There will be a flood of people out fishing all over next weekend.
                                 Good luck down there guys!
