what does one use for a fish crib?

cinderblocks, trees , is there a such thing as a floating fish crib?

what is the difference in a ice shack that sits on the ice all season
if i put my name on it and if don't change the habitat?
is there some kind of DNR programs for this?

There is a new product out called Structure On A String.  There is a thread on Ice Shanty, do a search and check it out.

Actually it is pretty easy to get a permit for a permanant crib.  There are some restrictions such as:

1.  The only thing non native used in construction is the bolts
2.  Must be 6ft of water above top of crib
3.  Must be an area of interest to you
4.  The DNR WILL CHECK on construction
5.  DNR is pretty helpful from my understanding

I live in MA now but grew up in Eau Claire and I just helped a guy load 2 cribs there on Saturday.  He has placed some in the past and says it's pretty easy to get the permit.  It's free.....

Tour Welcome Bob - actually I was quite suprised at how easy it is to get a permit.

Maybe check with the lake association there - sometimes they maintain a crib map that will be helpful to future generations.

i d tell u but seems like there is alot of dnr or narks on here
