Titanium Spring bobber
« on: Jan 20, 2013, 04:56 PM »
OK I love the tripwire but they seem like they would be easy to make.  Any one try yet? Are they leader material with a bead.  At 15-20 dollars for a spool of the stuff I want to be sure.

You need the leader material, a 6mm bead, and a small crimp.

Bend the end around, crimp it into an eye. Thread on your bead, super glue it in place. Attach to your rod with thread.

Figured it out. Size 2 light wire fly guide titanium leader, bead and epoxy. I did not want the Frabill as I don't think it's American made and I like to build my own stuff when I can. I build all my own rods and now my own high end spring bobbers.

frabill titanium are overrated in my eyes. The line can get tangles around the bead end and can be annoying after a while. I took mine off. Good thing i got mine on sale for 4.00 . i would be sending mine back if i had to pay full price.

hey mags459, where did you get the titanium from.  ive been using "knot2kinky" titanium leader but it turns into a noodle in the cold.  it's strictly a heated shack spring bobber.  i was debating the frabil, but sounds like it's too stiff for my needs.

I just use Bic lighter springs. Paint the end what ever color you chose. Me I do it flo orange. Cheap and efficient.
