Weekend Results
« on: Feb 12, 2007, 01:14 AM »
Went south this weekend to hit the ice on one of the KS small MUDHOLES! Went down with fellow fourm stud, TMFLDEM and one of his friends. Fishing was pretty slow til later in the afternoon when the fish just started jumping through our holes. We caught roughly over 100 wipers and crappies. Wipers all averaged around 18-22" and the crappie ranged from 5-14". Going back next Sat to try it again!

Fishing should be the exercise of your skills- and its rewards the places it brings you to

Yea buddy, nice fish. ;D

You either have a very tolerant wife or none at all to allow fish slobbers all over the livingroom. ;)

Can't tell what type of rattle snakes those are in the background, but they look to be over 40".

Yeah, TMFLDEM has a very cool girlfriend.  That was his house where the pics were taken and she is the one that took them. :P

Them are some nice snake skins that he has hanging too.  Some big Prairies for sure!

That does look like a lot of fun catchin those wipers thru the ice.  What lb test do you use for those and do they fight like they do in the summer?

We used mostly 4lb mono, but did have some breakoffs. The first hole i i fished i had 4 breakoffs in a row, so i pulled out the casting reel with 50lb braid and could really let em have it ;D. They do fight very good through the ice, but not as hard as on open water.

Yeah those are prairie rattlers, i still have almost a dozen in my freezer to skin.

What were they biting on?  We are going to make a trip down to the Southwest reservoirs to try and get some wipers through the ice.

I am getting a little worried about Saturday. Forecast says the winds are going to gust around 40 MPH. We may leave a little later in the morning and fish until 8 or 9 PM. The winds are suppose to get weaker as the day goes on.

Just checked the weather for Sat and they now say that the wind will be under 25mph.  That will work for us.  I seen this morning that it was going to be around 40 but they changed it again! :o  GO FIGURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ::)

Call me tomorrow sometime.  Did you pick up some extra minnows?
