Smith lake on Crescent lake refuge

On the ice on Smith lake last Saturday - 1st trip of the season.....had to stay sort of close to the shore, ice was 2+ inches, but the ice on the major part of the pond looked a little iffy.  Fished 1 1/2 hours without a bite.  Fished there on Nov. 2nd - did a bit of wading and caught 4 large perch (kept) and several good size bass (released).  Plan to head to Oliver res. (west of Kimball) in the next few days.

Thanks for the update.  Was thinking of duck hunting this weekend but may have to go fishing instead.  Good luck at Oliver, that lake has never treated me well during the winter
