I am hoping for enough wind to keep the ice relatively free of snow cover.  I went out and checked this morning 4" on Recharge lake near york.  There will be 8 by the weekend if the lake stays relatively snow free!  Just ordered bait, lets hope for the best!

Doesn't look good for my neck of the woods, they're calling for 6"-10" tonight and tomorrow. We picked up a couple inches yesterday.

Just when I thought all was well, this dang blizzard is supposed to move in. Just our luck, the meteorologists will proabably be accurate for once.

Ya, That's my concern, if we get that much snow it could set things back even further. We would have to head north to fish.

I will be fishing this weekend, there will be a lot of snow but much will blow off and as thin as the ice is right now all it will take is a few pressure cracks to soak down the snow to add some slush ice to the top and as cold as the temps are forecasted it'll freeze like concrete. I worry about this every year and i kick myself for worrying because the ice still builds.

Ice is cold enough on top (froze big time)that there will be smalle drifts with striated drifts.  Before you get true "thins spots" you need drifts over 5-6' wide.  With 26 mph winds sustained, ice will grow.  I would be better to have none...but short of a 6" straight down drop (christmas snow) this won't effect ice growth too much.  We're fine....continue with auger maintenance and line re-spooling.  That is all.   LOL

You can say that again fishgut! Not sure what to think right now. Will have to assess the situation on Thursday. I am afraid its not going to be good though. Anyone gets out drop us a note and let us know what you find..

The wind was nasty last night, I have to imagine that it blew a good amount of snow off the ice.  Probably won't be able to get down the road to check the ice until tomorrow.  Well let you know then.  Should be fishing on Saturday!
