Around Omaha, I'll go with 2nd week of December. I was on 4-5" of ice by Dec 12 last year. Hoping for the same or earlier this year.

I was thinking about the same, mid-December. These first few days of November '09, and the forecast for the next week or so, are a lot warmer than November '08 was. Unless we get a good hard cold snap, I don't think we're going to see fishable ice as early as last year.

dec 10 saw ice in the ditches yesterday and broke a 1/2 inch of ice out of the dog buckets

Western Nebraska I'll guess before Thanksgiving. I heard you guys have had 14+" of snow already and I know from family it's been damn cold up in the Blackhills and badlands of SD not to far away.

Warm streak ahead of us...I'm going to say pond fishing week of Dec. 5th. Other lakes / res. maybe the week after that. This damn warm weather has me pretty po'd. We started so well in early Oct. cooling the water down..now this. I'm not happy...other than I have my deer stand to keep me dreaming and already have a good bag of ditch parrots in the freezer. My Weimaraner is turning into a champion...the little girl is making dad proud for only 5 years old. 6 hard points...6 retrieves...and no vet clinic yet (knock on wood). She spent most of last year in stitches...paws and chest. She has no fear of anything.

I like your attitude.

Water temps are cool enough on the Sandhill Lakes to make ice as soon as below freezing temps hit. We are getting skim ice about every night plus there are some snow drift areas that have not opened up yet. I just hope we don't get the hurricane winds with freeze up like a year ago. Took a lot of weed beds down and super cooled the lakes. It was several weeks before the fish got re acclimated.

have had skim ice on some of the shallow marshes here in E NE. I'm sticking with my guess of December 19th. Mostly because I'm on vacation from then till the 4th of January!

Starting to think were not gonna see ice yet this year

Bought a new fly rod yesterday. Gonna try a litle fly fishing down on the snake river one of these next weekends

It will get here when it does, we just need to be thankful that we get ice here, so we have something to do in the winter, I mean we could be mowing our lawns year round, yea right, huh.

With the temps forecasted, frozen lakes will soon be reality.

I may be overly optimistic, but I am in hopes of being on ice by Dec 12 weekend.

Most days are below freezing and if this wind can lay down, we'll be set. It's been a long time a coming.
