During the summer when i'm fishing for pike i use 5-6" sucker minnows. is that the same thing that u would use on a tip-up? or go smaller? to me it seems like the 5-6" sucker would give a lot of "false flags" on the tip-up.

That's about the right size. What do you ahve for tip-ups? Depending on the type, there are some tricks you can do to cut down on the bait flags.

If i remember correctly, they have two different trip settings, if im right, use the notched one, that will probably be enough, if not, clip the tail fin
