I am looking to build a 7' x 10' ice shack capable of sleeping 4 people. It will have a table that folds down into a bed and also a bunk above the table that will also sleep 2.
My question is, does anyone have pictures/diagram of how to make good skis using 1" or 1.5" square metal tubing? Then mounting 4-5" teflon on the bottom and bending it up in the front.
Any concerns about this idea???

runners from angle iron with rebar structure.

Steel pipe works good.

Go with square aluminum tubing for the frame and aluminum flats for the runners. Aluminum can be heated and bent for the front ski curve. Aluminum is very strong when cross braced and lighter then steel. One center cross member is not enough center support. Use two or three, aluminum is light. Mount the teflon to the runner flats with flat head screws counter sunk into the teflon. Teflon thickness needs to be thick enough to accept the counter sink. Good luck and post with final pic's

Not everyone can weld aluminum, if you have the capability be the way to go.
Pricey.

Thanks guys. I will be putting a couple more cross members in there for sure. But the shack itself will be made of 2x2’s for walls instead of aluminum. Cheaper that way.
Also think of making a hitch that is removable and able to attach it to the back so we can pull it backwards if needed.

That thing is going to be HEAVY!, even with 2X2 framing. Are you sheathing it with plywood? How about the floor? You may need to go with steel 2" square tubing.

There was a guy on another forum who built a smaller shack on youtube out of aluminum. Check out JDSOutdoors channel. You may get some good ideas from his build.
