Short laker rod for flip top?
« on: Mar 07, 2021, 03:55 PM »
Hi for outside I have 39-42” rods, picked up a quick flip 1 and was curious how short zi could go with a lake trout rod? I am in CO, so 30-40” fish are possible but not the average. Appreciate the insight 1/4-3/8 oz jigs.
Thank you

I have the same hut. A 32-34” works great inside for me. I’m partial to the 32”

I use 36 inch and 40 inch in my flipover and its not a huge flipover.

Ive found just adjusting my seat and hole placement helps a ton.

I still high stick once in a while but other than that. They have worked well for me. High sticking usually occurs when i get smacked in the drop.

I have also trained myself to reel with tip of rod very close to water surface to maximize the hook set.
