Bait sources near Deep Creek Lake
« on: Jan 18, 2019, 06:57 PM »
Just found out that Nicklow's bait store has moved  :o to 11517 National Pike( Rt. 40) Grantsville, Md.
They're still selling minnows, worms, maggots, ect.

What other bait suppliers are in the area that us ice dogs can use ???

The hardware store in Mchenry on 219......might be a source. I have not been in there but they claim to be a baithouse.

Some other stores in the Morgantown area that I have used  are
Mountaineer Gun Sales - minnows, waxworms, spikes, nightcrawers
Sportsmen's Warehouse - waxworms and nightcrawers

Stopped at Deep Creek Outfitters (hardware store) on Sunday morning :) and bought some shiners and fathead minnows. They also have a small  selection of ice fishing tackle.

Just curious about how the new Nicklow's Bait shop compares with the old spot? Still same selection of minnows?

Minnows and spikes, yes.  They are set up more for wholesale though, so you won't see the peg boards of jigs, etc....Last time I was there, they did have some things piled up in a corner, tip ups, skimmer, etc...but not sure if thats still the case.  Nice people and easy to deal with for bait though.
