Sienna handle?
« on: Feb 28, 2020, 11:09 PM »
I broke the handle on 1 of my sienna reels last weekend. Anyone happen to have an extra handle?

They have a warranty if its not too old. Never heard of a handle breaking, they'll probably warranty it if you call.

Just give it a shot and call Shimano. I had bail break on a Pflueger reel. I mailed it back to the company and got it back a month later, like new. Didn't cost me a dime except to ship it there. They shipped it back for free.

Shimano has great service.  It's $9.88 with free shipping directly from Shimano.

Only contacted them once. They couldn’t help with what I needed, but they did direct me to some folks who could! Agree great service!

Wow, great prices.  Thanks for the info.  I'll have to do more shopping next time I pick up a couple.

Shimano North America wants me to send it in for inspection. Going that route doesn't seem to make much sense as it will cost $5-8 to mail it in, to possibly receive news I need to pay $12 for a new handle.  May as well keep this for parts and go buy a new one for $15-$20.

Probably best to just buy the handle, cheaper than a new reel. Check ebay for a handle or for parts reel. Not sure where these $15-20 siennas are, I just sold a couple used ones for $25ea on ebay and they only lasted a day on here before selling. Possibly closeouts of the previous model??

Picked up two new Sienna's for $14.99, although two spots I called/stopped at had sold out recently (with  that price it makes sense!).  I'll keep the other for a parts reel.

Must just be in your part of the country.  Nothing like that here around Ohio.  That's like buy-one, get-one from where I come from lol.  You could start a nice little eBay store selling them for $25 a piece.

Scheels

Thanks Coach!
Must be an in-store deal.  I'll be in one early part of next week, so I'll check it out

It was an in-store deal. Had reels for $14.99 and shimano sienna combos for $24.99.  One Scheel’s was out of stock but the other had some and matched the $14.99 in store price of the other Scheel’s.  Really customer friendly company, and are open to legitimate match situations in my experiences.

I saw the sale the other day, sold out though. They were closeouts of the previous model, not the new ones. I'm guessing they bought up a bunch to have the in-store specials.

You could double your money basically instantly on ebay. Like I said I sold a beat up used one for $25 and it was only up for an afternoon, sold the same day. Cheapest one up now is just under $30, but when that sells the rest are $35-40 ea.

I think I probably would have bought 10-20 of them for $15ea brand new given the chance. Hold them until may-june and you could flip for a decent profit.  ;)

That's how it goes sometimes on final clearance.  I usually buy the closed out stuff and then see how much the price gets pushed up afterwards.
