Water repellent spray for shacks?

Just curious.  Do you use a water repellent spray on your portable shelters?
My gear:

Otter XT Cabin
Frabill Bunker 310

Not worth it just put a tarp over the top without blocking any windows or vents.  This will also deal with the condensation dripping all over you.

Go to a local boating supply store and get the stuff for boat canvas.  It is a little more expensive but worth the cost.  You have to wash the canvas with dish detergent, let it dry and then spray the stuff on and let it dry.  It works great.  Make sure you wash it really well first.  I use a soft scrub brush and Dawn, hose it off really well and proceed from there.

Exactly it's all just a waste of money seriously just stick with a tarp.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have pics of the over the top tarp setup? I sometimes get annoyed with the drips also.seems like it would be a hassle to setup?

The easy way is, just toss it over and pull it around for maximum coverage.

And, if in the wind ~ that's another problem...

Tarps have grommets you just need more tie downs and ice anchors. Ice fishing in the rain sucks my eskimo 949i leaks in the rain after a while, it gets pretty annoying.

Every couple of years I treat mine. I bought a seam sealer and spray on water repellent from a camping store. In early fall I treat the seams .. this is where a lot of leaking occurs. I let that sit over night and the next day spray the entire tent down .. outside only. This does smell. I let it sit overnight to air out and dry. It seems to work good enough but in a down pour not much will work.

I have used a rain cover for a tent.  Didn't fit perfectly, but it did keep it from raining inside during a steady downpour.

I hadn't even thought about using water repellent on the shack. I'm sure it comes with repellent on it right? How long before the initial repellent wears off and a new layer should be added?

Don't forget the zippers!
My Shappell DX3000 gets about 2 applications per season of Armor-All on the zippers to keep them working like new all the time.

At least around here ice fishing in the rain only happens 2 or 3 times a winter, and normally very late ice end of March early April. This is a odd January thaw we are having right now should be back to the cold in a week. February is typically about our coldest month.

I would be careful using any spray seal on stitching due to some have chemicals in them that will eat the cheap thread up in no time, I have added a small footprint tarp for backpacking that bungees down to my four side of my house. hub style house

A Frabill shanty manual says they usr Camp Dry.  If you want to use something different to test it on the skirt.

Every year before the first outing I spray the entire hut on the outside with Camp Dry.  My Clam Denali is five yeas old now and no moisture coming in while fishing. I also spray the zippers with a silicone spray to prevent them from freezing.
