I have fished it 3 times and never did well. Bunch of hammer handles is all I ever caught. Some guys say they do ok there just hasn't been good for me.

I’ve spent many hours searching for walleyes haven’t caught one out of rose valley. If you can find the perch they are generally nice ones. I have noticed they can be quite finicky. Personally Id skip rose valley and head to tioga county.

Hills Creek in Tioga County is a pretty reliable lake to have good safe ice when others don't.

Black Moshannon is one in Centre County that gets and holds ice pretty reliably. It's the elevation there and the fact that it's in a deep "pocket" that makes it pretty reliable for good ice.

This lake can be a pain too though.

The best way to fish Black Moshannon is to dig a lot of holes and keep moving. I know that's the strategy for many lakes but at Black Mo, I don't even start until I've dug 10 holes.

I know with the weather and rain things aren't probably any good. But did it open it wide open or break away from the banks.

Passed by at noon there were two guys north of the cause way.  A few south of the north parking lot in the cove.  None in the center half of the lake and 4 or 5 groups scattered around the East and south boat launch.  So about a dozen people and I am not one of them yet.  I could not find anyone to talk to, do know how think the ice is.  I will wait.  Becareful and have a buddy with you......jk
