No shortage of ice up here ;D
I requested that they add this forum, now I just have to get the word out. Time to harness up the dogs
It's too cold to hit the lakes right now (at least for me, I'm a wuss. LOL), it's been in the mid -40's for over a week now..........come on March!!!
I have been out a few times already this winter and have iced a bunch of pike in the 30" range, not big but not hammer handles either.
I have plans to hit some of the lakes north of the city for lakers in March when it's warmer and the days are longer. I have heard reports of fish that won't fit through 10" holes :woot:

I've heard of those tales too from my old boss that works occasionally in Yellowknife. Please go check it out Drifter.

Awesome Drifter. Soft is OK too since you are trying to show the size of your fish in that neck of the woods. Beauty looking fish for sure.

Little ones around town, monsters on the big lake (North Arm)
Last years biggie at Trout Rock Lodge was 53"  :woot:
I moved to Yellowknife last winter and am still exploring........no shortage of fish holding H2O in the area.

went out once on the big lake in mid june managed some mediumish pike but nothing over 15#, we were out on the north side of the big lake about 20 miles or so. the buddy we went with said it would have picked up in a couple weeks (ice was only off about a week).

Bill
That fish is actually smaller than the last one :woot:
It weighed in at 42 pounds while the fish in the last pic weighed in at 61 pounds :woot: :woot:
It's pretty amazing how camera angles distort the size of the fish.

Hey Drifter-
any tips for tackling the pike up here? I moved to YK in August and bought a skidoo about 6 weeks ago. Only had it out a few times with all the cold weather and only iced one pike so far!?!? I have ice fished quite a bit growing up in the Great Lakes (Lake Erie) area but haven't figured it out up here yet. Any help, even on things like bait, rigs, etc (and especially spots!) would be appreciated. Thanks.
Mike
